Monsoon Alert: Railways on High Alert in North Bihar

Jagran Correspondent, Samastipur: In view of the possibility of an increase in water level due to continuous rains in North Bihar for a few days, the Railways has issued a monsoon alert. The railway administration is in full alert mode regarding the safe operation of trains. In view of the possibility of flood, Railways has stocked 200 wagons of boulder and stone dust at the erosion site. Apart from this, empty sacks of cement, bamboo sticks, etc. have been collected in sufficient numbers.

Railway Division Instructed to Monitor River Adjacent Tracks

In view of the monsoon, the railway division has been instructed to keep a special vigil on the tracks adjacent to the rivers. The engineering department team is patrolling to ensure the safety of the tracks. The water level of the rivers passing through many railway sections of Samastipur Railway Division has started increasing, especially on the Samastipur-Darbhanga, Narkatiaganj-Balmikinagar, Mansi-Saharsa railway sections, posing a risk of flood and erosion.

Safety Drive for Safe Rail Operations

For the purpose of safe operation, the Railway Administration is running a safety drive in the division while making pre-flood preparations. Drainage arrangements are being made in yard and block sections, OHE in all railway tracks, and tree branches obstructing loco pilots from seeing signals are being pruned. Flood-affected areas are being identified, and patrolling and watchmen deployment on railway routes in these areas are being carried out to monitor the water level around the tracks.

Special Security Arrangements by Samastipur Railway Division
