Bhojpur Police has recently uncovered a smuggling operation involving English liquor being transported disguised as grains. A total of 23,736 bottles of liquor were seized by the police and excise department during this operation. Additionally, one individual has been arrested in connection with this case. The incident took place near Bilaunti on the Ara-Buxar highway. The truck, which was loaded with liquor from Punjab, had sacks of barley placed in it to avoid suspicion.

The police acted on secret information received by the product department team regarding the smuggling of liquor by truck. As soon as the truck entered Bihar from Uttar Pradesh, the police and excise department team began pursuing it. The Shahpur police station was also informed about the situation. Ultimately, the truck with a Gujarat registration number was intercepted and the driver was taken into custody. A search of the truck revealed a large quantity of liquor hidden beneath sacks of barley and paddy husk.

The police discovered 3,480 bottles of 750 ml, 4,416 bottles of 375 ml, and 15,840 bottles of 180 ml during the search. The driver claimed that he had received the truck in Lucknow and was instructed to deliver it to Assam. He was allegedly paid Rs 10,000 for this task. The police, including Shahpur Police Station Head Pramod Kumar, Inspector Sanjeev Kumar, and Rakesh Kumar, are currently interrogating the driver and investigating any potential interstate connections.
