Janmashtami Celebrations in Muzaffarpur

Today, Janmashtami is being celebrated all over the country, including Muzaffarpur. The Radha-Krishna temple located at Harisabha Chowk has been renovated and preparations for the festival have been going on for two months. A grand event will also be held at Falahari Baba Math and Badi Durga Temple, with special worship programs organized at various public and private places. Additionally, cultural programs will be organized in the city, including a Jagran program at the Radha-Krishna temple. Devotees will also be worshiping Laddu Gopal by observing fasts in their homes.

Preparations in Rural Areas

Preparations for the Shri Krishna Janmotsav celebrations are also in full swing in the rural areas. Pandal constructions and decorations have been completed in several blocks, such as Mushari, Kudhani, Kanti, Sahebganj, Saraiya, Paru, Gaighat, and Bochahan. Matka Phod programs will also be organized by youth groups in both urban and rural areas of the district.

Women Observing Fasts

On the occasion of Shri Krishna’s birth anniversary, most women will observe fasts and worship as per rituals. Private and government schools have already celebrated Shri Krishna’s birth anniversary a day earlier, with private schools given a holiday on Wednesday. This decision has brought joy to working teachers who can now easily worship Lord Krishna and observe fasts.

Prasad and Its Benefits

On Janmashtami, various types of prasad, such as coriander leaves and laddus, are prepared in temples and homes. Elderly women have been busy preparing these prasads for many days. According to Ayurveda doctor Vaidya Lalan Tiwari, coriander prasad keeps the stomach cool and cures thyroid disease. Flour-rice laddus increase appetite, while banana prasad provides nutrition during fasting.
