A dispute between a husband and wife in Katihar took a horrifying turn when the husband, who was drunk, set his wife’s private parts on fire. The woman’s screams alerted relatives and neighbors, but the accused managed to escape. As he fled, he threatened to burn his wife alive upon her return. The severely injured woman was rushed to a sub-divisional hospital, where doctors decided to transfer her for better treatment.

Accused’s sister told about brother’s actions

The incident occurred in a village under Barsoi Nagar Panchayat. The husband and wife had an argument, during which the husband physically assaulted the wife. In his intoxicated state, he wrapped a cloth in wood and set fire to his wife’s private parts. According to the victim’s sister-in-law, the accused is frequently drunk and this often leads to disputes and fights.

The accused’s sister also revealed that he has been married three times and has a tendency to view his wife with suspicion.

The victim gave a statement

The victim, who is currently undergoing treatment, provided a statement stating that her husband intentionally burned her private parts with the intention of killing her. She also revealed that she has been subjected to physical abuse on multiple occasions. The incident was reported to the local police by relatives.

Dr. Rajeev Nayan Prasad from the sub-divisional hospital stated that the victim received immediate first aid and has been transferred to a hospital in Katihar for further treatment.
