  • Some vehicles have number plates in the front, while others have them in the rear.

Central Motor Vehicle Act

Under the Central Motor Vehicle Act, certain rules have been made regarding number plates for bikes and scooters. According to Chapter 3 Rule Number 50, there should be a number plate below the front handle and another one above the tail headlight and mudguard at the rear of the vehicle. This means that there should be number plates on both the front and rear sides. Failure to comply with this rule can result in fines imposed by different states.

Why is this rule necessary?

Many bikes and scooters have colorful number plates, and traffic police in every state are taking strict actions against them. All vehicle owners have been instructed to use approved number plates, which consist of white plates with black bold letters for the numbers.
