Hindi Day Celebrations in India

Today, the whole country is celebrating Hindi Day, which marks the recognition of Hindi as the official language of India in 1950. However, it is important to note that Hindi has not been given the status of a national language in the Constitution. This lack of recognition has resulted in the neglect of Hindi in various aspects of society.

Lack of Hindi Teachers in Intermediate Schools

In Banka, there are 203 schools for intermediate studies, but only 22 of them have Hindi teachers. This shortage of Hindi teachers is not limited to Banka alone. For example, the reputed RMK Inter School in the city has been without a Hindi teacher for the past 10 years. Similarly, the Public Inter College Sarvodayanagar has been waiting for an Intermediate Hindi teacher for a decade.

Dire Situation in Rural Schools

The situation is even worse in rural areas, where the condition of high schools is no better. Even in large government schools in urban areas like MRD, SS Girls, and Sarvodayanagar School, the post of Hindi teacher remains vacant. It is crucial to address this issue as the foundation of a child’s education is weakened without a strong grasp of language.

Importance of Language in Education

Hindi teachers emphasize the importance of language in building a strong foundation for children’s education. A weak grasp of language can hinder a student’s performance in all subjects. Therefore, it is essential to appoint proficient language teachers to improve the language skills of students.

News Summary:

  • The neglect of Hindi as a national language in the Indian Constitution has resulted in a shortage of Hindi teachers in schools.
  • Various schools in Banka, including the RMK Inter School, have been without a Hindi teacher for several years.
  • Rural schools face an even worse situation, with high schools lacking Hindi teachers.
