Upcoming Electric Cars in India
The electric vehicle (EV) segment in India is growing rapidly, leading to an increase in demand for electric cars. Several companies are introducing new EV models to cater to the needs of premium EV enthusiasts, which will intensify the competition in the market.
Tata Punch EV with 300 km range
Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, and Hyundai are among the companies that are planning to add EVs to their portfolios. Tata Motors is preparing to launch the Tata Punch EV in the coming months, which will offer two battery pack options. The first option includes a 19.2kWh battery pack with a power generator of 74bhp, while the second option features a 24kWh battery pack with a power generator of 61bhp. The EV is expected to provide a range of more than 300 km and will be equipped with Tata’s Ziptron technology, which includes a liquid-cooled battery and a permanent magnet synchronous motor.
Maruti EV with 500 km range
Maruti Suzuki, on the other hand, has not yet launched any EV in the market but is preparing to introduce its new electric SUV based on the EV concept. The vehicle is expected to come with a 60kWh battery pack, which will provide a range of approximately 500 km. However, an entry-level variant with a smaller battery and a range of around 400 km is also expected to be available for budget-conscious customers.
Hyundai Creta EV with 452 km range
According to reports, Hyundai is testing its popular car, the Creta, as an EV and is expected to launch it in 2025. The powertrain of the vehicle could be similar to the Hyundai Kona EV, featuring a 100kW permanent magnet synchronous motor and a 39.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which will offer a range of 452 km.
