A fire broke out in a slipper factory in Hazari Mohalla, under the jurisdiction of Khajekala Police Station in Patna City, during the early hours of Diwali. Two people died in the incident. After receiving the information, the local residents informed the Khajekala Police Station. It is reported that the fire was brought under control by the firefighting team upon their arrival at the scene. However, two workers in the factory lost their lives in the incident. The police have sent the bodies for postmortem to the Nalanda Medical College Hospital in Patna and are investigating the matter.
Both deceased workers were from Jamui district. One was identified as Mahadev Das from Lakhai village, and the other was also a resident of Jamui. The cause of the fire has not been determined yet. It is speculated that leaving a burning diya (lamp) unattended after Diwali puja might have caused the fire. It is also possible that a short circuit was the reason. The extent of the damage caused by the fire has not been reported by the factory owner yet. The Khajekala Police Station in-charge, Rahul Thakur, stated that investigations are ongoing.
