Preparations are underway in Siwan jail for the Chhath festival. This festival of faith is celebrated with great pomp in Bihar. It is a festival that is celebrated not only by Hindus but also by Muslim families. This year, a total of 17 prisoners, including a Muslim woman, will celebrate and observe the Chhath festival in Siwan Mandal Kara. The jail administration is fully involved in the preparations, which will be celebrated just like it is done outside. Arrangements for fruits, puja materials, and new clothes are being made in the jail.

One of the prisoners in Siwan Mandal Kara is a Muslim woman who has been imprisoned for several years in a case of Rukhsana murder. For the past eight years, she has been celebrating the Chhath festival continuously in the Mandal Kara. She had been praying for a son, and her prayer was answered. She has been observing the Chhath festival in the jail for the past eight years. The arrangements for this are made by the jail administration, with a makeshift ghat being created inside the jail. Rukhsana is from Rukundipur village in the Darounda police station area and is serving a sentence for murder.

A total of 17 prisoners in Siwan Mandal Kara are celebrating the Chhath festival. This includes 10 women and seven men. The jail administration has set up Chhath ghats inside the jail for the fasting women and men. The ghats will be decorated properly, and fruits, clothes, and puja materials will be provided. It should be noted that jail superintendent Sanjeev Kumar has mentioned that this is done every year as per government orders, and the prisoners observe the Chhath festival by fasting on the ghat created inside the jail.
