In Vaishali, local residents created a ruckus by detaining a police officer. The incident took place near the Belkuda Chowk in the Mahua police station area. It started when the police were conducting a vehicle inspection and they caught hold of a young man and started beating him, resulting in his injury. The locals took the injured youth to the hospital and then retaliated by detaining the police officer at a private school near Belkunda Chowk.

The locals alleged that the police officer was intoxicated and beat the young man for no reason. The injured youth, named Shiv Shankar Rai, is the son of the late Ajab Lal Rai from Salimpur in the Bhagwanpur police station area. He explained that he was returning home after giving the prasad of Chhath Puja to his sister’s house when he was stopped by the police during the vehicle inspection. They started beating him with sticks, causing his hand to break. He claimed that the police officer was under the influence of alcohol.

As soon as the incident came to light, the Mahua police station in-charge, Prabhat Ranjan Saxena, arrived at the scene. The Vaishali SP confirmed that an investigation was conducted into the incident and the allegations were found to be true. The accused police officer has been immediately suspended.
