Toyota Prepares to Launch Land Cruiser Mini in India
Toyota is ready to introduce its compact SUV, the Land Cruiser Mini, in India. According to news reports, the company has trademarked the name ‘Land Hop’ and has requested the name ‘FJ Land Cruiser’ in Japan. A few months ago, Toyota presented a brand new mini off-roader SUV based on the Land Cruiser 250 seats. The SUV will be released in markets worldwide, including the United States and Japan. This SUV will compete in the off-road segment in India against the Mahindra Thar and Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
Land Cruiser Mini’s Killer Look and Design
Reports suggest that the Mini could include hybrid and electric powertrain options. This would be the production version of the small cruiser EV concept presented a few years ago. It could be launched next year and might also be known as the Yaris Cruiser or Light Cruiser. The car will compete directly with the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Mahindra Thar in the Indian market. It is clear that customers will be pleased with its concept design.
Land Cruiser Mini’s Design
The design will be similar to the compact cruiser SUV. It will have a nearly flat roof and high pillars. The size of the Mini will be similar to the Cotola Cross. It will be built on a body-on-frame chassis and will be longer than the five-dot Jimny. The current car’s length could be 4,350 mm, width 1,880 mm, and height 1880 mm, and it may feature additional wheels with a tailgate patch. It could come with round LED headlights. Its concept design looks quite impressive and could appeal to anyone at first glance.
Powerful Engine of Land Cruiser Mini
Internally referred to as the “Jimny killer”, it could make its global debut at the Tokyo Motor Show next month. Reports about its powertrain line-up vary, with options including a 2.0L petrol engine from the Corolla Cross, a 2.5L petrol/hybrid mill from the RAV4, and even a 2.8L turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine found in the Prado and Hilux A. The Japanese manufacturer is preparing to add a mild-hybrid system to its GD series diesel engines in the Fortuner and Hilux, but whether it will be available in the Land Cruiser Mini is still unknown. In the near future, the upcoming LC Mini could also feature an electric drivetrain for the fourth-generation Tacoma pickup truck.
