There has been a commotion in Ramgarh, Jharkhand, where schoolgirls are being harassed and Hindu and other non-Muslim girls are being forced to chant pro-Islamic slogans. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has taken a strict stance on this issue. The Chairperson of the Commission, Priyank Kanoongo, has sent a notice to the district administration regarding this matter. Kanoongo has informed about this incident on Twitter and stated that the NCPCR has taken note of the incidents of harassment of schoolgirls and forcing Hindu and non-Muslim girls to chant pro-Islamic slogans, as well as the incidents of physical assault with sticks. The Commission has directed the district administration to file an FIR, arrest the culprits, and ensure the safety of the girls.
According to some media reports, a few young men from a particular community forcibly entered the school premises. After this incident, the students became targets of harassment. It is reported that around 20 students have been injured in this assault. The incident is said to have taken place at Arbi High School in Sandi, Chitarpur district. According to the students mentioned in the media reports, they allege that on Thursday, when they were going to school, some boys first made obscene gestures towards them and then started harassing them when they protested. After this, the miscreants physically assaulted them.
On Friday, some boys entered the school and physically assaulted several students, creating a commotion. There are also reports of some students being injured. People have surrounded the Rajrappa police station and demanded strict action against all the culprits. The police have stated that they will take strict action against the accused. BJP’s Jharkhand President and former Chief Minister, Babulal Marandi, has also demanded strict action against the culprits in this case.
