National Boxing Championship 2023: Bihar’s Raunak Mishra has secured a medal for himself in the senior national boxing championship. The championship is being held in Shillong, Meghalaya from 25th November. Raunak Mishra has reached the semi-finals in the 75 kg weight category and secured his medal. In the quarter-finals, he defeated Kunal Ghorpade from Maharashtra with a score of 4-1, thus securing his place in the final. Raunak Mishra hails from Darbhanga district in Bihar, and the Secretary of the Boxing Association of Bihar, Rajiv Kumar Singh, has confirmed his achievement.

350 boxers are participating in the championship across 13 weight categories. Bihar’s Minister of Art, Culture, and Youth Affairs, Jitendra Kumar Rai, President of Bihar Olympic Association, Abdul Bariki Siddiqui, Chief Supervisor of the Boxing Association of Bihar, Tarakishor Prasad, and other officials have congratulated Raunak Mishra on his achievement. The entire boxing community, including Ramakant Singh, Chairman of the Boxing Association of Bihar, Treasurer Saroj Kumar Jha, Vice-Chairmen OP Singh Pappu, Veerendra Paswan, Gautam Mandal, Mohammad Farood Ansari, and Amarjit Kumar, has also extended their best wishes.

In another news, a youth was killed in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, for not playing the preferred song at a wedding. In East Champaran, a teacher was shot during a shooting competition. Meanwhile, the state-level (inter-district) girls’ athletic competition was inaugurated at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Kankarbagh, organized jointly by the Department of Art, Culture, and Youth Affairs and the Bihar State Sports Authority. More than 1,200 girl athletes from 38 districts and 2 Ekalavya Centers (Bhagalpur and Vaishali) participated in this competition, which will continue until 30th November. Pankaj Kumar Raj, Deputy Secretary of the Bihar State Sports Authority, stated that such district-level competitions will enhance the talent of players, and Bihar is not lacking in opportunities for talented individuals.

The Bihar State Sports Authority and the Bihar government are providing all possible assistance to sports and athletes in the state and are working towards strengthening Bihar’s position in the medal tally. The Additional District Magistrate, Khagesh Jha, mentioned that significant progress has been made in the development of sports in Bihar, and the state is making a name for itself in the field of sports. During the inauguration, Om Prakash, District Sports Officer, Patna, extended his best wishes to the athletes and highlighted the positive results seen in Bihar’s medal tally due to the improved performance of the state’s players.

In other news, the traffic police stall will be set up at the Sonepur Fair, and there will be demonstrations of mega phones and speed guns.
