Rapid Rail: Good news for the people of Rajasthan. The Delhi-Panipat and Delhi-Alwar Rapid Rail projects could soon begin as the Delhi government has allocated a budget for them. Previously, the governments of Rajasthan and Haryana had announced budgets for the Rapid Rail project. Now, with the announcement from the Delhi government, the path for Rajasthan to receive the Rapid Rail has become clear.
Delhi government allocates budget for Rapid Rail project. The Arvind Kejriwal-led government in Delhi has allocated a budget of INR 415 crore for the Rapid Rail project. The governments of Rajasthan and Haryana have given their consent and also announced budgets for the project. The Haryana government had allocated INR 80 crore for the Rapid Rail project.
Operation of rapid trains has started on the Delhi-Meerut route. The Delhi-Alwar route will be followed for this project. This project is a joint collaboration between the Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan governments. All three states had already given their approval to the project. Subsequently, the governments of Rajasthan and Haryana announced budgets for the project. However, the Delhi government had not released a budget.
Supreme Court reprimanded the Delhi government. The Supreme Court had reprimanded the Delhi government for not releasing the budget. The High Court had stated that the Delhi government spends INR 1,100 crore on advertisements but has no budget for the project. The court also warned that if the pending payment is not made within a week, the allocation fund issued by the Aam Aadmi Party government for advertisements will be transferred to the project. It was then that the Delhi government released a budget of INR 451 crore for the Rapid Rail project.
