Home Minister Amit Shah visited Meru area in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand on the occasion of BSF’s 59th Raising Day and paid tribute to the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice. He emphasized the crucial role of border security in the development of the nation.
Home Minister Shah expressed his pride in the soldiers and their families and stated that the presence of BSF soldiers brings a sense of security to the people, whether it is the Pakistan border or the Bangladesh border under BSF’s jurisdiction. He commended the soldiers for their dedication in safeguarding the borders.
BSF was established on December 1, 1965, with a workforce of around 2.65 lakh personnel. Its primary responsibility is to protect the 6,000-kilometer-long Indian borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh. Therefore, every year on December 1, BSF Raising Day is celebrated to commemorate its establishment.
