Those who were interested in the verification process and the Vikas Bharat Yatra campaign will have the opportunity to obtain their cards. The supply department is currently conducting checks on ration card holders at various locations.
Due to the fulfillment of the target limit for ration card beneficiaries in the district, interested individuals have been unable to receive their cards for a long time. As an important identification document, the ration card is mandatory to avail benefits of various welfare schemes including Ujjwala, Ayushman Bharat, and others. Therefore, interested people continue to demand card issuance by meeting the respective officials in their areas. The good news for such individuals is that the process of getting ration cards made can start again in the coming days.
In fact, the district supply department is currently running a campaign to verify old cardholders. During the verification process, thousands of people lose their eligibility to hold cards due to various reasons. This will provide an opportunity for new individuals to obtain cards.
Officials from the district supply department have revealed that a campaign is currently being conducted in various locations in the district to verify cardholders. Cancelled ration cards will be taken into consideration and new cards will be issued to new holders.
Eligibility for ration cards can be lost based on the following factors: if a person in the family gets a government job, purchases immovable property, starts paying income tax, leaves the area, or buys a four-wheeler. Under the Vikas Bharat Yatra, the administration is setting up camps in various places these days. New beneficiaries are being added to welfare schemes along with providing information about the development works done by the government.
Seema Balian, District Supply Officer, said, “Some individuals lose their eligibility to hold cards during the screening of beneficiaries. Opportunities will be given to new individuals in such cases.”
