In Simdega district of Jharkhand, an elephant killed two women, Mariam Mundain and Kamalawati, by trampling them. Forest Range Officer Abhay Kumar stated that the incident occurred near Ekoada village in the Bano area, about 110 kilometers away from Ranchi, when the women were returning home from the village market.

The Forest Range Officer mentioned that they are monitoring the movement of elephants. When elephants separate from their herd, they become more aggressive. The Forest Department has provided immediate assistance of Rs 10,000 to each of the deceased’s families.
