Traffic congestion has been a problem in the capital city of Patna for years. However, the traffic police and transportation department have been making efforts to alleviate the congestion. As part of these efforts, the city will soon be divided into different zones for autos and e-rickshaws. This is being done to reduce the pressure of vehicles on each route and gain control over traffic congestion. The proposal for this plan has already been sent to the transportation department.
According to Traffic SP Purnanand Jha, the number of autos allowed on different routes will be determined based on the pressure of vehicles. Auto drivers will be given permits accordingly. Traffic police officials hope that the division of the city into three zones will reduce congestion in the areas affected by traffic jams.
Writing police code on autos will soon become mandatory. According to officials, autos and e-rickshaws will be divided into zones based on their coding, which will be represented by different colors. This means that autos and e-rickshaws will only be allowed to operate in their designated zones. It is worth mentioning that a few years ago, it was a rule to write police code on autos, which has almost been abolished. Traffic SP Jha stated that for security reasons, drivers will be required to write their names and addresses on autos and e-rickshaws.
The traffic police have collected fines from drivers who have violated traffic rules. More than 1.24 crore rupees in fines have been collected from 2,496 vehicles. Additionally, 59 individuals have been fined 2.95 lakh rupees for using their mobile phones while driving.
