This shop has been serving tomato pakodas for the past 25 years and has gained a huge fan following. People travel from as far as 25 to 30 kilometers just to relish the taste of these tomato pakodas.
Preparation of Tomato Pakodas
In today’s market, you can find various types of pakodas, including cauliflower, potato, onion, and many others. However, tomato pakodas have a unique taste. To prepare them, tomatoes are first washed and cut into two halves. The middle part of the tomato is removed, and a masala is prepared using onions, garlic, ginger, hot spices, coriander, turmeric, chili powder, cloves, cardamom, and other spices. This masala is then stuffed inside the tomato and deep-fried. The shop sells over 200 pieces of tomato pakodas every day.
Quick Preparation and Affordable Price
According to the shopkeeper Khobhari Rai, the shop has been running for the past 25 years, and they start their operations at 3 PM. The tomato pakodas are prepared by cutting and stuffing the tomatoes with the masala. Once the masala-filled tomato pakodas are ready, they are strained. Before straining, a batter is made using gram flour which is then applied to the pakodas and fried. This entire process takes around 15 minutes. The price of one piece of tomato pakoda is only Rs. 10.
