Travel from Delhi to Agra is set to become more expensive as toll taxes on the Yamuna Expressway may increase. The Yamuna Expressway Board meeting is scheduled for December 18, where a decision on increasing toll rates could be made. Toll rates may be increased by 2-5%, meaning travelers on the Mathura-Agra route will have to pay more. This will result in a heavier burden on the pockets of travelers.

To travel from Greater Noida to Agra, people have to take the 165-kilometer long Yamuna Expressway. Toll charges are applicable for using this expressway. Plans to increase toll charges are underway, as the company responsible for maintaining the expressway has proposed an increase due to maintenance and other expenses. The company has proposed a 5% increase in toll charges, which will be implemented after approval from the board.

Currently, cars, vans, jeeps, and other light vehicles are charged at a rate of Rs. 2.60 per kilometer on the Yamuna Expressway. Light commercial vehicles are charged at a rate of Rs. 4.15 per kilometer, while toll charges for trucks and buses are Rs. 8.45 per kilometer. Heavy vehicles are charged at a rate of Rs. 12.90 per kilometer.

Recently, the speed limit on the Yamuna Expressway has been reduced due to accidents caused by fog during winter. Signboards providing information about weather and traffic conditions have been installed on the expressway. The authority is also focusing on creating awareness to prevent accidents on the expressway. All vehicle drivers are advised to stay within the speed limit and follow traffic rules.
