A woman in Palamu, Jharkhand, committed suicide due to her husband’s alcohol addiction and physical abuse. The incident took place in Khendra Kala village under the Chhaterpur police station. Vijay Parhiya’s wife Kamala Devi (45) consumed a poisonous substance on Thursday night. There had been an ongoing dispute between Kamala and Vijay since Thursday morning. After consuming the poison, the woman was taken to Chhaterpur Sub-Divisional Hospital where she was declared dead by the doctor. The Chhaterpur police took custody of the body and sent it to Mediniray Medical College Hospital for postmortem. After the postmortem on Friday, the woman’s body was handed over to the family. The station in-charge Shekhar Kumar stated that the case is a family dispute. Initial investigation has revealed that Vijay Parhiya used to physically abuse his wife Kamala Devi after consuming alcohol daily. Just ten days ago, Kamala’s father had passed away. She had eligible daughters for marriage in the family. Kamala was constantly under stress due to her husband’s alcohol addiction. She was more troubled by her husband’s behavior after her father’s death.
