Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) conducted the preliminary exam for the recruitment of 1275 Daroga (Sub-Inspector) posts in Bihar Police. The exam was held peacefully on Sunday, with approximately 85% of the 5.61 lakh candidates who had applied appearing for the exam. However, a few candidates were disqualified on charges of cheating, with three candidates being caught with OMR sheets and others being caught using cheat sheets. The exam was conducted in two shifts in various centers across 38 districts of Bihar.
The nature of the questions in the exam varied, with some being easy while others were difficult and tricky. For the first time, three questions were asked in English. The exam consisted of 100 questions to be answered in two hours. The questions covered topics such as history, geography, government policies, economy, mathematics, current affairs, and science. Negative marking was also applicable, with one mark deducted for every wrong answer. Candidates made an effort to answer as many questions as possible, as there were fewer questions compared to previous exams.
As for the expected cut-off marks, experts have predicted that for the general category, EWS, and backward class male candidates, the cut-off could range from 70 to 72 marks, while for general category, EWS, and extremely backward class female candidates, the cut-off could be between 58 to 60 marks. The cut-off for extremely backward class male candidates is expected to be between 62 to 65 marks, and for scheduled caste and scheduled tribe candidates, it could range from 55 to 65 marks. The results of the exam are yet to be announced.
The recruitment process for Bihar Police has undergone significant changes, with the exam being conducted online. The preliminary exam serves as a screening test, and around 26,000 candidates will be selected based on the merit list to appear for the main exam. From these candidates, approximately 7,700 will be selected for the physical examination based on the merit list. The aim is to declare the results within two months.
Candidates who appeared for the exam have given their feedback, stating that the pattern of questions was different this time. The questions were tricky and not typical. Subjects like geography, political science, and economics were particularly difficult. Current affairs questions saw a significant reduction in the number of questions. The question paper was based on the syllabus of BPSSC. The arrangements for checking the exam were better, and the questions were of moderate difficulty.
Overall, the Bihar Police Daroga exam was conducted smoothly, with a large number of candidates appearing for the exam. The results are eagerly awaited by the candidates, who are hoping for a fair and transparent selection process.
