Introduction of Royal Enfield Shotgun 650
Royal Enfield, a leading performance bike manufacturer in India, recently launched the Motoverse edition of its new Shotgun 650 bike, a limited edition model. The company has now introduced a new production-ready version, which will soon be officially available for sale. The only difference between the Motoverse version and this new standard model is the paint job; the rest, including the engine mechanism, remains the same. Built on the 650cc platform, the new bike joins the company’s portfolio along with the Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, and Super Meteor 650, making it the fourth model in the 650cc category. While there are some similarities between the Shotgun 650 and Super Meteor 650, the two bikes look significantly different.
Design and Features of New Royal Enfield Shotgun
The company introduced this bike during the EICMA Motor Show 2021 as the “SG65” concept. Since then, the bike has undergone several changes to become a production-ready model. However, the bike’s frame, look, and design remain largely the same. It was presented as a single-seater bike, which can be converted into a two-seater. It has a removable seat for the rear passenger. The Shotgun 650, weighing 240 kilograms, is about 1 kilogram lighter than the Super Meteor. It is also slightly smaller than the Meteor, though it has a higher seat height. Additionally, the footrests are centrally located, and the flat handlebar provides a straightforward riding position.
Performance and Power of Royal Enfield Shotgun 650
The Shotgun 650 is equipped with a 648cc parallel twin-cylinder engine that produces 47 PS of power and 52.3 Nm of torque. It has a 320mm disc brake on the front wheel and a 300mm disc brake on the rear wheel. The front sheave is laced with an upside-down (USD) fork suspension system, and the rear is laced with a pre-loaded adjustable double shock absorber suspension system.

Royal Enfield will offer the Shotgun 650 in four color options at launch, including Stencil White, Plasma Blue, Drill Green, and Sheetmetal Grey. It has a 13.8-liter fuel tank, nearly 2 liters smaller than the Super Meteor. Although the company hasn’t announced the bike’s price yet, it is expected to launch it at a base price of INR 3.4 to 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Its price is expected to be less than the Super Meteor 650.
