Darbhanga: A bizarre incident occurred in Jayantipur Dath, under the Bahera police station of Darbhanga district. It was reported that a person entered a water-filled well out of fear of the police and drowned. Upon hearing the news of the death, villagers and family members blocked the Darbhanga-Kusheshwarsthana main road and demanded compensation along with action against the guilty.

According to the incident, in the evening, the deceased Satyanarayan Mahato and two others were standing outside his toddy shop. At that time, a police vehicle from Bahera police station arrived and started pushing the people standing there. In the chaos, the deceased saw a well and tried to hide in it but ended up drowning in deep water. Meanwhile, Raja Mahato, the son of the deceased Satyanarayan Mahato, stated that the Bahera police not only raided the deceased’s shop but also his house.
Taking money after catching people
Upon hearing the news of the death, villagers expressed their anger and claimed that officials from the revenue department often extort money from people in Jayantipur Dath under the pretext of raiding for illicit activities. Local residents are greatly troubled by this behavior.
Post-mortem conducted on the body
After hours of traffic congestion, the police from Bahera police station arrived at the scene and convinced the villagers to clear the road. They also recovered the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The Superintendent of Police, Ajay Rathore, stated that the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination and after receiving the report, compensation will be given to the deceased’s family.
