Police investigate suicide at girls’ hostel in Patna

A student at a girls’ hostel in Patna, the capital city, committed suicide by hanging herself. The victim, Shivangi Singh, was preparing for medical exams. The incident took place in the Uttari Anandpuri area of the S.K.Puri police station.

Police were informed that a student preparing for medical exams at the girls’ hostel in Uttari Anandpuri committed suicide on Thursday night. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene and began their investigation. No suicide note was found at the scene. The police also questioned other students residing there to gather more information. Shivangi had been studying in Patna for a year.

Concerns arise when family members’ calls go unanswered

According to the police, Shivangi shared her room with another girl. On Thursday evening, Shivangi’s family members called her multiple times but she did not answer. They then called her roommate and asked why Shivangi wasn’t answering her phone. The roommate stated that she was not in the room when the calls came in. When she entered the room, she found the door locked from the inside. Despite shouting and knocking on the door, it did not open. Eventually, they broke down the door and found Shivangi hanging from a noose.

Police investigation underway

The S.K.Puri police station stated that no suicide note was found at the scene. Currently, they are questioning the family members for more information. The police are also examining Shivangi’s mobile phone.
