Saudi Arabia has provided a major relief to Hajj pilgrims by announcing a significant reduction in the cost of the pilgrimage for next year. The Hajj pilgrimage for 2024 will be 50,000 rupees cheaper than the previous year. The Saudi government has also made changes in the pilgrimage policies. However, pilgrims from Gaya, Bihar, will have to pay more compared to any other embarkation point in the country in 2024, but the cost will still be lower than in 2023. It is worth mentioning that Hajj pilgrims from Bihar embark on their journey from Gaya and Kolkata only.
Abdul Haq, the Chairman of Bihar Haj Committee, explained that the reason for the higher cost of going on Hajj from Gaya Airport is that the airfare from this airport is higher compared to other airports in the country. Hajj pilgrims from Gaya have to pay around 1.6 lakhs rupees to go on the pilgrimage, while the airfare from other airports is much lower. Hajj pilgrims from Bihar either depart from Gaya Airport or Kolkata for the pilgrimage. Pilgrims from Kolkata have to pay around 1.45 lakhs rupees. It should be noted that the Hajj pilgrimage for 2024 will start from May 9 and the return journey will begin from June 20.

A facilitation center has also been set up in the Minority Welfare Department in Gaya. So that any Hajj pilgrim does not face any difficulties in applying online. This facility center has been operational in Gaya since December 19. It should be noted that in 2023, from Gaya Airport, 3,459 pilgrims went to Mecca on 24 flights for 15 consecutive days, but this time there is a possibility of more pilgrims going.
