Mohan Prakash/Supaol Temple is a famous Vishnu temple located in Ganpatganj, Supaul district, Bihar. The temple is spread over 15 acres and is built in the South Indian style, becoming a center of faith for the locals in the area. It has gained popularity as a major tourist destination in Bihar due to its magnificent architecture and artwork dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is often compared to the famous Vishnu Temple in Chennai.
The temple hosts three grand festivals throughout the year, namely Brahmotsav, Pavitrotsav, and Kalyanotsav, following the South Indian Vaishnav tradition. The construction of the temple was carried out by Dr. Pawan Kumar Mallik, a renowned sculptor from Kosi region, as per the vision of his sister Leela Mallik. Dr. P.K. Mallik had a deep devotion to Lord Vishnu since childhood and had a strong belief that his purpose in life was to build a temple for the divine.
The foundation of the temple was laid by Dr. P.K. Mallik in 2004, and the grand inauguration took place in 2014 with the Santokshanam ceremony. Dr. P.K. Mallik single-handedly took on the construction of the temple. The temple hosts the first festival, Brahmotsav, which is a seven-day long celebration held in February. This is followed by Pavitrotsav, a sacred festival observed for seven days in August to purify oneself from sins committed throughout the year. Finally, to attain the blessings of Lord Vishnu, Bhudevi observes a rigorous month-long fast, known as Kalyanotsav, from December 14th to January 14th. The last day of this festival marks the sacred wedding of Bhudevi with the Lord.
