Lack of awareness about road safety is a major issue in Dumka district. Careless driving is becoming a significant cause of accidents. These accidents are resulting in the loss of lives or causing fatalities to others. More than 400 accidents have occurred from January until now, with 261 people losing their lives. Many people have suffered physical injuries. Despite the presence of signboards enforcing speed limits on main roads and intersections, they are not being followed. These accidents occur due to drivers’ negligence and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Most accidents are caused by violations of traffic rules, including underage driving.

In populated areas, bikes are seen running at high speeds. The most difficult situation is observed in densely populated areas. In the district and surrounding areas, vehicles or bikes are seen moving at high speeds. Accidents occur in the city due to these drivers, resulting in loss of lives or serious injuries. Bike collisions due to speeding and violations of traffic rules are common. Furthermore, mobile phones have become a cause of accidents in today’s era. From January onwards, more than 400 accidents have occurred on different routes in the district. Among them, 261 people have lost their lives, and more than 400 people have been injured. In January, 18 deaths occurred, followed by 28 in February, 29 in March, 27 in April, 16 in May, 19 in June, 23 in July, 24 in August, 18 in September, 22 in October, 26 in November, and 11 deaths have occurred in December so far.

Case 1: In an accident on the Ramgarh-Dumka highway between Thadhihat and Dum Village, three bikes collided, resulting in the death of several people. Four people were seriously injured. With the help of local people, the injured were taken to the Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital, where one of them died during treatment.

Case 2: On February 6, a mother and son died in a road accident while returning from a bath in the Ganges in Bhagalpur. They were returning home from Hansdiha with two bikes. Near Kuruakitta Village on the Ramgarh-Hansdiha route, they died in an accident caused by an unknown vehicle’s collision.

Case 3: Three laborers, including the driver, died when a tractor fell into a ditch near Balmadih Village in the Dhandoli Panchayat of Jama Thana area. They were taking the tractor to Nayaadih Village to have lunch. The accident occurred due to a loss of balance.

Residents are questioning the Devghar Municipal Corporation about whether the waste will be properly managed to welcome the New Year.

दुमका जिले में सड़क सुरक्षा की जागरुकता की कमी होने के कारण लापरवाह तरीके से वाहन परिचालन हादसों की वजह बन रही है। इसके कारण बहुत से लोग खुद की जान खो चुके हैं और दूसरों की मौत का कारण बन रहे हैं। यहां तक कि जनवरी से अबतक 400 से अधिक हादसे हो चुके हैं, जिसमें 261 लोगों की मौत हो चुकी है। इसके चलते कई लोग शारीरिक रूप से घायल हो गए हैं। ज्यादातर हादसों का कारण चालकों की लापरवाही और नशे की हालत में वाहन चलाने को माना जा सकता है। कई लोग भारी गति में बाइक चला रहे हैं और ट्रैफिक नियमों का उल्लंघन कर रहे हैं। इसलिए आबादी के क्षेत्रों में बाइकों की भिड़ंत और हादसे ज्यादा हो रहे हैं। इससे राहगीर, बच्चे और महिलाएं भी खतरे में पड़ रहे हैं। इसलिए सड़क सुरक्षा को लेकर जागरुकता बढ़ाने की आवश्यकता है।
