Nina Singh becomes the first female Director General of CISF
Nina Singh, an IPS officer, has been appointed as the Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). This is a historic achievement as she is the first woman to hold this position in CISF. Currently, Nina Singh is the Special Director General of CISF, responsible for the security of airports, Delhi Metro, government buildings, and strategic establishments across the country.
About Nina Singh
Nina Singh joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) as a Manipur-cadre officer, but later moved to the Rajasthan cadre. She belongs to the 1989 batch of IPS officers. Nina Singh took charge as the Director General of CISF on August 31, following the retirement of Shilvardhan Singh. The Ministry of Personnel, in an order, has approved her appointment as the Director General of CISF until July 31, 2024.
Experience and Achievements
Nina Singh has a diverse experience in her career. She was the first female IPS officer in the Rajasthan cadre and served in various important positions throughout the state. She also worked as the Joint Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from 2013 to 2018, where she investigated several high-profile cases with national and international implications. Currently, she is serving in CISF since 2021, previously holding the positions of Additional Director General and Special Director General, and now as the Director General in charge.
नीना सिंह ने केंद्रीय औद्योगिक सुरक्षा बल (सीआईएसएफ) का प्रमुख बनने के साथ ही इतिहास रच दिया है, क्योंकि वह देश की पहली महिला हैं जो सीआईएसएफ की महिला प्रमुख बनी हैं। उन्होंने पहले राजस्थान कैडर में कार्य किया और वर्तमान में सीआईएसएफ की विशेष महानिदेशक हैं। उनकी जिम्मेदारी सीआईएसएफ के पास पूरे देश में हवाई अड्डों, दिल्ली मेट्रो, सरकारी भवनों और रणनीतिक प्रतिष्ठानों की सुरक्षा की है। उन्होंने राजस्थान कैडर में कई महत्वपूर्ण पदों पर कार्य किया है और सीबीआई में भी संयुक्त निदेशक के रूप में काम किया है। वह बिहार की मूल निवासी हैं और उन्होंने पटना महिला कॉलेज, जेएनयू और हार्वर्ड विश्वविद्यालय से पढ़ाई की है। उनके पति भी आईएस में हैं और वर्तमान में केंद्र सरकार में उपभोक्ता मामलों के सचिव के पद पर कार्यरत हैं।
