Naxals kidnapped the contractor’s clerk, Shahnavaz Khan, and demanded a ransom of 30 lakhs. The Bihar police and other security agencies launched a search operation for Khan. However, the Naxals released him near Bakshibazar temple in the district. After his release, the police and security agencies breathed a sigh of relief.

On the night of December 24, armed Naxals kidnapped three workers from the construction site. They released two laborers in the jungle and demanded a ransom of 30 lakhs for Khan’s release. A reward of three lakhs was announced for information leading to the arrest of Naxalite Vivek Yadav, who was involved in Khan’s kidnapping.
Senior SP Ashish Bharti had announced a reward of three lakhs for information on Naxalite Vivek Yadav, also known as Sunil Yadav, Karu Yadav, Bret Ji, Rajendra Yadav, or Booti Yadav. He also announced a reward of 25,000 rupees for information on the kidnapped clerk, Shahnavaz Khan. The informant’s identity was to be kept confidential.
