Delhi-Dehradun Expressway to be Completed by November
The construction of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is expected to be completed by November. The first phase, a 14-kilometer stretch within the Delhi border, is slated to be completed by May 15th. The second phase, which spans from the Loni border to the Kharkhoda district of Baghpat, is anticipated to be ready by March. The remaining nine phases are expected to be sequentially completed by November. The completion of the expressway will alleviate traffic congestion on the roads of East Delhi, as it will include five entry and exit points, including the Akshardham and Signature Bridge.
Traffic Relief through Urban Extension Road
The Urban Extension Road-2, which connects Faridabad to the Delhi-Gurugram border, and Dwarka to the Singh border, is 80% complete. It is expected to be operational between June and July. The road will also connect to the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), enabling vehicles coming from the Singhu border to Faridabad to reach the airport without getting stuck in traffic jams.
Traffic Issues at Gurugram Border to be Resolved
The Delhi-Gurugram border, currently a major traffic congestion point, will see relief with the completion of the Dwarka Expressway by May. The opening of this 29-kilometer four-lane expressway will reduce pressure on the Delhi-Jaipur national highway, which sees daily traffic of 300,000 Passenger Car Units (PCUs). The expressway begins at the Shiva statue roundabout within the Delhi border and enters the Haryana border through the airport and Dwarka, ending at the Khedki Daula toll plaza on the Delhi-Jaipur highway.
Other Infrastructure Developments
Other projects include a flyover connecting Anand Vihar and Apsara border, expected to be completed by April. This six-lane flyover will reduce traffic jams at two red lights. An underpass connecting the Ring Road to Bhairav Road is expected to be completed by February 2024, providing relief from traffic congestion on the Pragati Maidan tunnel and Ring Road. A connector is also being constructed to connect the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which currently begins at Sohna, directly to Delhi by 2024.
