Dwarka Expressway, also known as the Urban Extension Road-II, is nearing completion in Delhi. Approximately 75% of the 29-kilometer long expressway and 80% of the Urban Extension Road-II have been completed. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has granted permission to conduct safety tests on the completed sections of the expressway. Once fully completed, traffic on the expressway is expected to resume.

In anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the government is likely to enforce the Model Code of Conduct in March. As a result, the government is expected to launch the completed projects soon. Both Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II are under close scrutiny in Delhi, so safety tests will be conducted to ensure compliance with all road safety standards.

The construction of the Urban Extension Road-II, which starts from Faridabad and stretches to Singhu Border in North Delhi, is still pending. While most parts of the 75-kilometer road are ready, work is delayed on a 10-kilometer stretch near Najafgarh. The remaining work related to road safety will be completed within a month.

The construction of the expressway from Shiv Murti Chowk to Khedki Daula Toll Plaza on the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway is underway to alleviate heavy traffic congestion from the Airport Corridor to Gurugram Border. Dwarka Expressway, the country’s first elevated urban expressway, spans 29 kilometers with a 19-kilometer stretch falling in Haryana or Gurugram. The construction of the expressway has incurred a cost of over 9,000 crore rupees and has been completed in four phases. It is located at a distance of 10 kilometers from Delhi, with 93% of Delhi’s work already completed.
