Delhi-Katra Green Field Expressway, a part of the Bharat Mala project, is being constructed at a rapid pace. 75% of the work for Package 1 and Package 2, starting from Nilothi village in Bahadurgarh, has been completed. The plan is to open the expressway by March 2024, with the expectation of vehicles filling it within four months. The completion of the expressway is targeted for March 2024 in Jammu and June 2025 in Katra.
The expressway is said to have foreign-style features, including facilities such as food and vehicle maintenance centers, petrol pumps, restrooms equipped with CNG and EV (electric vehicle) charging facilities. For emergency assistance, ambulance, fire brigade, trauma center, and traffic police teams will be available on the expressway 24/7. Three such centers are being established in Sonipat at Rukhi, Noornakhera, and Chhavdi villages.
The project has a total cost of 39,000 crore rupees and spans a length of 670 kilometers, consisting of 21 packages. Five of these packages are being constructed in Haryana. The main expressway is 570 kilometers long, with the Greenfield expressway from Nilothi to Guradaspur measuring 397.712 kilometers and the Brownfield expressway from Guradaspur to Katra measuring 122.288 kilometers.
The Greenfield journey from Nakodar to Amritsar will cover a distance of 99 kilometers. The expressway will make travel from Delhi to Katra easier, benefiting pilgrims visiting Mata Vaishno Devi. Some of the advantages include a speed of 120 kilometers per hour, reaching Katra in six hours, reducing traffic pressure on NH-44 in Sonipat, and providing new routes connecting Chandigarh, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir.
भारत माला परियोजना के तहत दिल्ली-कटरा ग्रीन फील्ड एक्सप्रेसवे का निर्माण तेजी से चल रहा है। इसके दावे हैं कि पैकेज वन और पैकेज टू का 75 फीसदी काम पूरा हो चुका है और इसे मार्च 2024 तक खोलने की योजना है। इस एक्सप्रेसवे पर विदेशी शैली की सुविधाएं भी उपलब्ध होंगी और इसमें आपातकालीन सहायता प्रदान करने के लिए विभिन्न सुविधाएं स्थापित की जाएंगी। इस परियोजना की लागत 39,000 करोड़ रुपये है और इससे कटरा की यात्रा को बहुत आसान बनाया जाएगा।
