HTML SUB HEADING: Rising Air Pollution Levels in Bihar’s Seemanchal Region

In recent days, the Seemanchal region of Bihar has witnessed heavy fog and pollution. The district of Purnia recorded an AQI level of 253 on Sunday, indicating severe pollution. Purnia is the most affected area by the foggy conditions. According to IMD, the air within a one-kilometer radius from the surface has become filled with water vapor, leading to a persistent foggy condition. The air movement is stagnant and calm, which is why the fog is not dispersing. This has resulted in prolonged foggy conditions during the day. Visibility in Purnia was recorded at 10 meters, while it was 100 meters in Patna-Bhagalpur.

HTML SUB HEADING: Causes of the Fog and Pollution

Several factors contribute to the fog and pollution in the Seemanchal region. One of the major causes is the presence of stagnant air due to a lack of wind movement. This stagnant air allows the fog to settle and persist for longer durations. Additionally, the presence of water vapor in the air further exacerbates the foggy conditions. This combination of stagnant air and high moisture levels creates a conducive environment for the formation of thick fog.

HTML SUB HEADING: Impact on Air Quality

The high levels of pollution and fog have severely impacted the air quality in the Seemanchal region. The AQI level of 253 in Purnia indicates very poor air quality, posing a significant risk to the health of the residents. The visibility reduction also creates hazardous conditions for transportation and outdoor activities. The prolonged exposure to such polluted air can lead to respiratory problems and other health issues.

HTML SUB HEADING: Measures Taken to Address the Issue

To combat the rising air pollution levels, authorities need to take immediate action. Implementing stricter regulations on industries and vehicular emissions can help reduce the pollution levels. Additionally, promoting the use of cleaner energy sources and encouraging public transportation can contribute to improving air quality. Awareness campaigns and educational programs about the harmful effects of pollution can also play a vital role in raising public consciousness and encouraging individuals to adopt sustainable practices.
