Paragraph 2: Diamond merchant rescued within an hour and a half
The police stated that on Tuesday night around 10 pm, the criminals kidnapped a diamond merchant. As soon as the police received information about the incident, they set up checkpoints and started checking in various police stations in Pator, Bahadurpur, Nagar, Kotwali, Laheriasarai, Hayaghat, and Vishnupur. During this time, the police in Laheriasarai seized a Scorpio and successfully rescued the kidnapped diamond merchant Vikas Mahato alias Vivek. Two criminals involved in the incident were arrested, while three others managed to escape. The arrested criminals have been identified as Rakesh Yadav and Raja Kumar Thakur, residents of Taralahi in the Bahadurpur police station area.

The rescued diamond merchant stated that all the accused posed as police officers and kidnapped him. They demanded a ransom of five lakh rupees. When he refused, they took him to a garden where they started beating him. They then put him in a car and tried to take him somewhere else. During the interrogation, the rescued youth identified himself as a diamond merchant.
Paragraph 4: Diamond merchant tells a different story
The diamond merchant claimed that during the demonetization period, he had stolen 45 lakh rupees from his employer’s house in Agra and used it to build his luxurious house. This is why the criminals kidnapped him. However, the police are not convinced by his statement and suspect that the entire incident may be related to the liquor business. The in-charge of Pator OP, Shiv Narayan Kumar, stated that the police are conducting further investigation into the matter.
