The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of the Indian government has released the Swachh Survekshan 2023 rankings for more than 4,000 urban local bodies across the country. The rankings were announced on Thursday at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, in the presence of President Draupadi Murmu. Indore and Surat secured the top positions in the cleanliness rankings for the entire country. Additionally, Jamshedpur in Jharkhand was honored as a clean city among cities with a population of over one lakh, while Bundu was recognized as a clean nagar nikay among cities with a population of over 25,000.
Jharkhand was ranked 16th in terms of cleanliness in this survey, with Bihar ranking 15th. A total of 142 urban local bodies in Bihar were surveyed. Ranchi, a city with a population of one lakh, secured the 154th rank in terms of cleanliness. According to the cleanliness survey of different state capitals, Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, ranked 15th among all capitals in terms of cleanliness. Vinay Kumar Choubey, Secretary of the Department of Urban Development and Housing, and Amit Kumar, Director of the State Urban Development Agency, congratulated the officials and employees of Jamshedpur and Bundu, and directed all local bodies to be prepared for next year’s cleanliness survey.
Steps taken by the Jharkhand government include focusing on separating dry and wet waste, working on dry waste processing, ensuring cleanliness of public and community toilets, and maintaining cleanliness of water bodies. Amit Kumar, Director of the State Urban Development Agency, said, “The ranking methodology for the cleanliness survey has changed. Our cities need to aim for Garbage-Free Star rankings and ODF++ certification.”
Among the 49 urban local bodies in Jharkhand, only three are in the ODF Plus category. Jamshedpur, Bundu, and Rajmahal have been placed in the ODF Plus category, indicating that these bodies have also managed waste disposal effectively. The ODF Plus category includes Ranchi, Mango, Saraikela, Chaibasa, Khunti, Ramgarh, Vasukinath, Hazaribagh, Chirkunda, Simdega, Medininagar, Latehar, Gumla, Dumka, Chakulia, Godda, Kodarma, Nagar Untari, Lohardaga, Jhumri Tilaiya. Dhanbad, Jugalsalai, Madhupur, and Deoghar are included in the ODF category.
देशभर के 4000 से ज्यादा शहरी निकायों में भारत सरकार के आवासन एवं शहरी कार्य मंत्रालय द्वारा कराए गए स्वच्छ सर्वेक्षण 2023 की रैंकिंग गुरुवार को जारी की गई। इसमें इंदौर और सूरत को अव्वल स्थान प्राप्त हुआ। झारखंड में लौहनगरी जमशेदपुर को क्लिन सिटी के रूप में सम्मानित किया गया है। इसके अलावा 25 हजार से ज्यादा आबादी वाले नगर निकायों में बुंडू को क्लिन नगर निकाय के रूप में सम्मानित किया गया है। झारखंड को स्वच्छता के पैमाने पर 16वें रैंक प्राप्त हुई है। दस लाख से अधिक आबादी वाले शहरों में रांची और धनबाद को स्वच्छता सर्वेक्षण रैंकिंग में मिला है। झारखंड और राज्य शहरी विकास अभिकरण के निदेशक ने निकायकर्मियों को बधाई दी है और सभी निकायों को अगले वर्ष के सर्वेक्षण के लिए तैयार रहने का निर्देश दिया है। झारखंड की सरकार ने स्वच्छता के कदम उठाए हैं, जैसे कि सूखा और गीला कचरा को अलग करना, ड्राई वेस्ट प्रोसेसिंग करना, पब्लिक और सामुदायिक ट्वायलेट की सफाई सुनिश्चित करना और वाटर बॉडी की सफाई करना।
