The age of the current MPs in Palamu and Dhanbad seats in Jharkhand could become a barrier. Dhanbad MP PN Singh will turn 75 in July 2024. In the last election, BJP set a deadline of 75 years for several senior leaders and MPs. In this regard, PN Singh’s place in the Dhanbad seat could be considered for a new candidate. Similarly, in Palamu, current MP BD Ram is 73 years old. Besides BD Ram, former MP Brajmohan Ram, Prabhat Bhuiya, and former chairman of the ST-SC Commission, Shivdhari Ram, have also emerged as potential candidates for this seat. Shivdhari Ram recently held discussions with BJP in the presence of party in-charge Laxmikant Vajpayee.
Several contenders in the race for the Lohardaga seat apart from Sudarshan Bhagat
Apart from MP Sudarshan Bhagat, there are contenders like Asha Lakra and Arun Urav in the race for the Lohardaga seat. Similarly, in the Jamshedpur seat, along with two-time MP Bidyut Baran Mahato, the name of Kunal Shadangi has gained popularity among the candidates. The Kurmi community makes up about 8% of the population in Jamshedpur, while the ST population is around 26%. In the Ranchi seat, besides MP Sanjay Seth, there is competition from Minister Pradeep Verma. Recently, Pradeep Verma was also announced as the candidate for the Ranchi seat in the Pradeep for Ranchi campaign. There has also been discussion about Hatiya MLA Naveen Jaiswal’s name for this seat.
AJSU’s nomination for the Hazaribagh seat could cause trouble
AJSU’s nomination for the Hazaribagh parliamentary seat could cause trouble for Jayant Sinha. MLA Manish Jaiswal from Hazaribagh Sadar is also a strong contender for this seat. BJP had nominated Hemlal Murmu as a candidate for the Rajmahal seat in 2014 and 2019. Now, Hemlal Murmu has joined JMM, so there are considerations for other names such as Tala Marandi for this seat. Similarly, in the Chaibasa seat, Lakshman Gilua was the BJP candidate in 2014 and 2019, but after his death, a new candidate will be chosen for this seat in the electoral arena.
