From Panchayat Head to Teacher: The Inspiring Journey of Devendra Das

In the world of politics, people often spend vast amounts of money to become the head of a Panchayat, but not everyone emerges victorious. However, in Supaul district of Bihar, there is a Panchayat head named Devendra Das, who decided to leave politics and become a teacher. Despite serving as the elected representative of the Panchayat for eight years, he filled out the form for the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), took the exam, and passed.

A New Beginning as a Teacher

Devendra Das, who transitioned from being a Panchayat head to a school teacher, mentioned that during his tenure as a member of the Panchayat Samiti and Panchayat head, he became disheartened by the deteriorating state of education during school inspections. Witnessing the poor condition of education inspired him to take a resolution to educate the next generation.

The Journey to Victory

Devendra Das, who graduated in Political Science in 2012 and obtained a postgraduate degree in Political Science from Mithila University in 2015 after completing his B.Ed, started teaching as a private tutor. During this time, he contested the Panchayat Samiti member election in 2016 due to the prevailing disorder in society and won by a margin of 2,001 votes. Subsequently, in 2021, he contested and won the election for the position of Panchayat head in Bhagwanpur Panchayat with 873 votes.

सुपौल जिले के भगवानपुर पंचायत के मुखिया देवेंद्र दास ने अपनी राजनीतिक करियर को छोड़कर शिक्षक बनने का फैसला किया है। उन्होंने बताया कि उन्हें पंचायत समिति सदस्य और मुखिया रहते स्कूलों के निरीक्षण के दौरान शिक्षा की बदहाली देखकर मन रो पड़ता था, जिसके कारण उन्होंने शिक्षा के प्रति अपना संकल्प लिया। उन्होंने विभिन्न योजनाओं को धरातल पर उतारा है और कोरोना के समय लोगों की मदद के लिए अपने निजी खर्च पर सामग्री वितरित की है। उन्होंने अपने दोस्तों और समाज के बुद्धिजीवियों से प्रेरित होकर राजनीति में आकर चुनाव लड़ा है और जीत हासिल की है।
