Makar Sankranti Celebrations in Bihar
Today, Makar Sankranti festival is being celebrated with great enthusiasm in Patna, Bihar, and other states. In Bihar, a special tradition on Makar Sankranti is the hosting of a meal consisting of yogurt and flattened rice. This meal is particularly talked about in the political circles, with prominent politicians like Lalu Prasad Yadav and Vashishth Narayan Singh gathering at their homes for the yogurt and flattened rice feast. However, this year, Vashishth Narayan Singh did not host the feast at his house, but it was organized at Rabri Bhawan. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also attended this feast, as he always does in Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi’s yogurt and flattened rice meal. However, the pictures of this year’s feast seemed slightly different in many ways.

During the yogurt and flattened rice feast organized at Rabri Devi’s residence, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar only stayed for about ten minutes this time and then returned to his residence. Moreover, unlike previous years, where Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi, and their family members would specially come to welcome Nitish Kumar at the gate and see him off when he left, this time nothing of that sort happened. In 2015, during the yogurt and flattened rice feast at Rabri Bhawan, Lalu Yadav himself had applied yogurt on Nitish Kumar’s forehead, giving him blessings for a victorious future, and after that, the Mahagathbandhan alliance had won big in the elections. However, this time, the sight of many old pictures during the feast at Lalu Yadav’s house was not seen.

Regarding the fact that Nitish Kumar was not given yogurt on his forehead this time, JDU State President Umesh Kushwaha said that everything is fine in the Mahagathbandhan, and everyone can see what they want to see. On the other hand, RJD spokesperson Shakti Yadav stated that those who cannot see the white mark on their forehead should show off their eyes. RJD MLA Dr. Mukesh Raushan said that Lalu Yadav is like an elder brother to Nitish Kumar, and his blessings are always with him. The alliance will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections with full strength and win forty out of forty seats in Bihar.
