ED has issued another summons to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren in connection with a land scam case. The summons require Soren to appear before the ED from January 27 to January 31 for questioning. This is the ninth summons issued to Soren by the ED. Previously, the ED had questioned Soren for nearly seven hours at his residence on Saturday.

In the eighth summons, the ED had asked Soren to appear for questioning from January 16 to January 20. Soren had asked the ED to come to his residence for questioning on January 20. Soren had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the ED summons, but the Supreme Court had dismissed his petition.

The case involves alleged land scam related to 7.16 acres of land in the Bajara area of Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. So far, 14 people have been arrested in connection with this case. Among the high-profile individuals arrested are IAS officers Chhavi Ranjan from the 2011 batch, Bhano Pratap Prasad, businessmen Amit Agrawal and Vishnu Agrawal.

ED had issued multiple summons to Soren for questioning in this case, but even after the summons were issued, Soren did not appear for questioning. On Saturday, a team of ED officials visited Soren’s residence and questioned him for several hours.
