Gopalganj SP Swarn Prabhat conducted a review meeting with the heads of the Women Help Desk in the district, where several instructions were given. The SP stated that the offices of the Women Help Desk will be adequately maintained and arranged for sitting. Various facilities, including computers, mobile phones, and pen drives, were provided, and the performance of various tasks was reviewed.

The Bihar police have taken strict measures to ensure the safety of women. Complaints related to women will now be registered at the Women Help Desk in police stations. This initiative has been taken to prevent violence and harassment against women. Complaints will have to be addressed within seven days.

SP Swarn Prabhat reviewed the work of the Women Help Desk established in police stations across the district on Wednesday. In addition to the head of the Women Help Desk, trainee DSP Sakshi Rai and Pooja Prasad were also present at the meeting. The SP mentioned that now women are coming to the Women Help Desk without hesitation and fearlessly sharing their problems.

Women who have experienced domestic violence, harassment, or sexual offenses are consistently visiting police stations and openly discussing their issues with female officers present at the help desk. They are also registering complaints when necessary. The number of women visiting police stations to file complaints has increased since the establishment of the Women Help Desk.

SP Swarn Prabhat provided instructions to the heads of the Women Help Desk, stating that when women go to any police station, their complaints will first be heard at the Women Help Desk, and the complaints will be addressed within seven days. The Women Help Desk at Sidhawaliya and Nagar police stations has been performing well. However, the report card of other stations, including Fulwariya, was not satisfactory, and the heads of the Women Help Desk there were warned to take action.

To ensure the smooth functioning of the Women Help Desk, the department has provided computers, pen drives, mobile phones, and rosters to the officers in charge. Instructions have been given to prepare rosters and maintain cleanliness in the offices of the Women Help Desk. The salaries of officers who are absent from the review meeting will be withheld.

SP Swarn Prabhat mentioned that women come to police stations with their issues, and their problems are addressed by female police officers present at the Women Help Desk. The purpose of setting up the desk was to increase women’s participation. Women should fearlessly share their problems with female police officers. Women can also dial 112 to seek immediate assistance in case of emergency situations or domestic violence.
