Jharkhand is experiencing a prolonged winter season this year, despite only a few days left in the month of January. The capital city and other districts are currently facing cold temperatures, with the minimum temperature around 7-8 degrees Celsius. Last year, the minimum temperature during this time was around 11-12 degrees Celsius. The weather department predicts that the next four days will see temperatures around 7-8 degrees Celsius in the capital and other parts of the state, and even lower in the northern regions.
The increased cold weather is due to a western disturbance in January, causing fluctuations in the weather. Additionally, the formation of cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal from January 17 to 19 led to cloud cover and rainfall in the southern parts of the state. Currently, there is a cyclonic circulation over Maharashtra and the western and northern parts of Uttar Pradesh.
However, the weather is expected to clear up today, and the minimum temperature is predicted to decrease by four degrees in the next two days. This will result in colder nights. Weather scientist Abhishek Anand stated that the skies are likely to remain clear from Friday onwards, with the possibility of increased coldness during the nights. After January 26, the cold weather is expected to continue, but the maximum temperature will increase with the appearance of sunlight.
