Despite the ongoing cold wave in Sitamarhi, young children are compelled to go to school. The district has been experiencing continuous cold weather for 17 days now, with the cold day phenomenon persisting for the past 10 days.

The weather department has issued a high alert for cold day conditions in Sitamarhi until January 30th. Despite such extreme cold temperatures, the district administration seems to be negligent and indifferent towards the safety of school-going children. The minimum temperature in the district is recorded at five degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is 14 degrees Celsius.

A student studying in a school in Raghav Majhaul village in Muzaffarpur died due to extreme cold. The district administration has neither made any arrangements to protect students from the cold nor provided any heating facilities in the school premises. Despite this, school children are still attending school in the cold. It is worth mentioning that schools were closed until January 20th, but the cold wave continues to intensify.

The cold wave is significantly affecting the daily lives of people. Due to the chilling breeze, people are staying indoors. Only a few vehicles can be seen on the roads. Even on Wednesday, the sun did not come out all day. The feeling of cold persisted throughout the day, and there was no sight of sunlight until 11 am on Thursday. The sky is covered with dark clouds.
