CM Nitish Kumar and BJP State President Samrat Choudhary took oath on Sunday as part of the new government in Bihar. While Nitish Kumar became the Chief Minister, Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha were appointed as Deputy Chief Ministers. However, the allocation of departments to ministers was delayed due to the Home Department being retained by Nitish Kumar. The Home Department is considered to be the most important department and the allocation of other departments was on hold until now.
On Tuesday, there were major transfers in the Home Department along with the General Administration Department. These transfers were made keeping in mind the rules of the Election Commission for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The new government of Nitish Kumar and BJP has appointed Dr. Veerendra Prasad Yadav as the Special Secretary of the Cooperation Department and Anil Kumar Thakur as the Joint Secretary of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Department.
Promotions have also been given to officers in the Bihar Administrative Service at the level of Special Secretary, Additional Secretary, Joint Secretary, Additional Under Secretary, and Deputy Secretary. The Home Department continues to be the most discussed department after the formation of the new government. It is rumored that Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary is interested in taking charge of the Home Department. He has also informed the top leadership in Delhi about his desire.
