Dwarka Expressway, a 29 km long road, is expected to be inaugurated in February, much to the delight of the residents. Rumors are circulating that the expressway will be launched before the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections. The construction work has been completed along the Haryana border and officials are waiting for the green signal from the NHAI headquarters to open it for vehicular traffic. The inauguration is expected to be done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The safety audit of the expressway has been completed and the installation of cameras will begin soon.
The Dwarka Expressway stretches approximately 19 km within the Gurgaon limits, starting from Kherki Daula toll plaza to Chawla. Construction and finishing work in this section has been completed. Some sections of the expressway, especially those below the elevated road, are already open for vehicles. The Delhi portion of the expressway is 85% complete, with the remaining construction work expected to be finished by June. Meetings have been held with Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, to discuss the inauguration of the Dwarka Expressway and laying the foundation stone for the AIIMS hospital in Rewari.
The district administration has contacted NHAI officials to expedite the opening of the expressway. Local MP and Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh has met with Nitin Gadkari to request the commencement of the Haryana section. A request has also been made to the Prime Minister to lay the foundation stone for the AIIMS hospital in Rewari and inaugurate the Dwarka Expressway. There is a possibility that the Lok Sabha session in February will be extended to accommodate these events.
Tenders have been issued for the installation of CCTV cameras on the expressway. These cameras will be used to issue fines to vehicles that exceed the designated speed limit. NHAI officials have stated that tenders have been released for the installation of these cameras, which will incur a cost of approximately 29 crore INR. Cameras will be installed every kilometer.
Two packages of the Dwarka Expressway in Haryana have been completed. Package 3 and 4 are part of the Haryana section. NHAI has been informed about the completion of the work and has the authority to open it for traffic. Currently, they are awaiting the issuance of orders. The opening of the expressway will benefit thousands of people.
The construction company, L&T, is currently halting traffic on the Dwarka Expressway. The speed limit for vehicles is set at 100 km/h. On the other hand, the commencement of the expressway in the Gurgaon section will provide convenience to residential colonies and societies from sector 57 to 115. Additionally, traffic from sector 81 to 115 can use this route to reach S.P.R, Sohna, or Faridabad. This will be beneficial for residents of sectors 58 to 80 who want to travel to old Gurgaon or Delhi, besides Faridabad or Sohna.
