Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: On Monday, Union Minister for Road Transport Nitin Gadkari announced that electric cables will be installed on the Delhi-Mumbai Express National Highway and electric buses will be operated. The distance from Delhi to Jaipur will be covered in two hours, reducing the cost of diesel buses by 30%. Gadkari also inaugurated and laid the foundation for 17 road projects worth over Rs 2,500 crore to boost development in Mevad, Udaipur. He mentioned that a 67-kilometer long four-lane expressway is being constructed from Bandikui to Jaipur at a cost of Rs 1,370 crore, which is expected to be completed by November 2024, reducing travel time between Delhi and Jaipur to two hours.
Electric Highway on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: During his speech, Minister Gadkari mentioned his recent visit to Prague, where electric buses were operating on roads with installed cables. He announced that the Jaipur-Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will be transformed into an electric highway, with electric buses running between Delhi and Jaipur. These buses will also have amenities like airplanes, and passengers will have access to tea and snacks.
Animal Overpass on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Gadkari proudly stated that the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is the first in Asia and second in the world to have an animal overpass, allowing animals to safely cross the road without hindrance.
Expressway Construction in Rajasthan: The Minister promised that the national highways in Rajasthan will be similar to those in the United States before the completion of the national highways in the state. He mentioned that the central government is constructing an expressway in Rajasthan at a cost of Rs 60,000 crore, while the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which is 1,382 kilometers long, is being built at a cost of Rs 1 lakh crore, with a business worth crores in the state.
Development of Udaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma described Udaipur as the “Kashmir of Rajasthan” from a tourism perspective. He assured that the government will fulfill its promises within 60 days and complete the manifesto. The event was attended by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, State President CP Joshi, several ministers, and legislators.
