Bullet Train: The long-awaited news for people eagerly anticipating India’s first bullet train has arrived. The train will run between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The land acquisition work for the country’s first bullet train project has been completed 100%, as announced by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. In a post on microblogging site Twitter, he stated that the land acquisition work for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet project has been completed 100%. Over 90% of the bullet train’s track section will be elevated or on bridges.
Track Construction Begins: Bridges are being constructed to lay the track for the bullet train. Pillars have been set up for a distance of 274.12 kilometers. Additionally, guarders have been installed on these pillars for a distance of 127.72 kilometers. Guarders are pre-constructed cement or steel platforms on which the railway tracks will be laid. The distance between Mumbai and Ahmedabad is 508 kilometers, on which the bullet train will run. NHRSCL has stated that the construction of the first “mountain tunnel” with a diameter of 12.6 meters and a length of 350 meters near the village of Jaroli in Gujarat’s Valsad district has been completed. In Surat district of Gujarat, the first steel bridge on a national highway has been constructed, measuring 70 meters in length and weighing 673 metric tons. Construction of 16 out of 28 such bridges will be carried out in a phased manner in various locations.
Find Out When Trials Will Begin: The estimated cost of this project is over 1 lakh crore rupees. NHRSCL is responsible for the construction of this project. According to the shareholding pattern, the central government will contribute 10,000 crore rupees. Gujarat and Maharashtra will each have to contribute 5,000 crore rupees. The remaining part of the project will be financed through a loan from Japan at a nominal interest rate of 0.1%. Initially, the deadline was extended, and now it is expected that the trials will begin in 2026.
