ED questioned former Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday in connection with the Ranchi land scam. Soren’s remand period ends on Thursday, after which he will be presented in the special court of the PMELA and then sent into judicial custody. There is still uncertainty about whether he will be kept in the Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi or in the notified IAS Club as a camp jail. According to state police officials, preparations have been made to keep the former Chief Minister in both places. ED has already questioned Hemant Soren three times for a total of 13 days since his arrest. The police remand period has now ended, and ED is authorized to question him until 15th February.
Hemant Soren has accepted the chat messages received by ED from Vinod Singh’s mobile in connection with the Ranchi land scam. He admitted that the chat was his, but he did not sign the related documents until Wednesday evening. Despite several requests from ED, Hemant Soren has not given his mobile agency to them. ED received three chats of 539 and 210 pages from two different mobiles of Vinod Singh after the arrest.
Former CM Hemant Soren is scheduled to be questioned with his close friend Vinod Singh on Thursday. ED has summoned Vinod Singh again after the raid on 12th February. ED has been continuously questioning Vinod Singh. Vinod Singh first appeared on ED’s radar on 3rd January. After the raid in connection with cases related to illegal mining and influencing witnesses, investment-related documents and chats were found at Vinod’s place. It was after this that ED also picked up pace in the investigation of the land scam.
During the investigation, it was found that on 14th February 2022, a woman was made a member of the Services Housing Cooperative Society. After this, the society’s secretary allotted a plot of 13.15 decimals to plot 375 B on 18th December 2022. The Services Housing Cooperative Society of Ashok Nagar can only allocate land to category A or B job holders. After the allocation, construction of a luxurious house was also carried out on the land. ED has received all the documents related to this.
