Controversy over School Timings in Patna, Bihar
There is a controversy brewing over the opening and closing times of schools in Bihar. The Nitish government has announced that teachers will come to schools at 9:45 AM and leave at 4:15 PM. However, the Education Department has issued orders for classes to run from 10 AM to 4 PM, while teachers are expected to be present from 9 AM to 5 PM. Some district education officers have also issued letters to schools, mentioning inspections from 8:30 to 9 AM.
CM Nitish Kumar and Education Minister at Odds
It is reported that CM Nitish Kumar may pressurize KK Pathak regarding the 9-5 school timings. On the other hand, sources suggest that Pathak is adamant about the timings and there is increasing pressure to change the school timings to 10 AM to 4 PM. Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar has reportedly called Pathak twice and instructions have been given to issue written orders from the Education Minister. Despite receiving multiple orders, Pathak is not complying.
Pathak Unwilling to Issue Written Orders
Pathak seems unwilling to issue written orders and may leave for Delhi this evening. It is said that he will stay in Delhi for 3-4 days. CM Nitish Kumar has already ordered schools to follow the 9-5 timings, but Pathak has not complied. Education Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary has reiterated that government orders must be followed at all costs. It is believed that CM Nitish Kumar may summon KK Pathak at any time.
