**Rising Cases of Dog Bites in Bihar**
The Bihar Economic Survey (2023-24) issued by the state government has highlighted dog bites as the most prevalent disease. The report shows that in the year 2022-23, a total of 2,07,181 people were victims of dog bites, compared to only 9,809 cases in 2021-22. Data analysis reveals that on average, 600 people in Bihar are bitten by dogs every day. The second most prevalent disease in the state was malaria, with 45,532 cases reported in 2022-23.

**Highest Cases in Patna**
According to the report, the highest number of dog bite cases in Bihar were reported in the capital city of Patna in the year 2022-23, with 22,599 cases. This was followed by Nalanda (17,074), Gopalganj (15,253), Vaishali (13,110), West Champaran (11,291), East Champaran (9,975), Madhubani (8,401), and Araria (6,710) cases. The report also listed at least 2,000 cases of dog bites in each district, with Kaimur (33), Aurangabad (435), Buxar (686), Muzaffarpur (1,258), and Khagaria (1,916) included.

**Response from Patna Municipal Commissioner**
In response to the high number of dog bite cases in Patna, the Patna Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar informed the Public Health Department that they are aware of this fact and will investigate such risks promptly in accordance with existing regulations. The Commissioner also plans to involve non-governmental organizations for this purpose.

**Preventive Measures in Nalanda**
Meanwhile, the District Magistrate of Nalanda, Shekhar Anand, shared information with the Public Health Department, stating that they have a dedicated and trained team of municipal employees to prevent this risk. They have already intensified the campaign against stray dogs in the city. Medical specialist Dr. Manoj Kumar expressed concern about rabies, a dangerous disease caused by dog bites, and emphasized the importance of addressing this issue in the survey report.
